Sippy cup

Marshall MOPS Meeting Place
Lets talk cups. What is the official progression of sippy cups? There are so many on the market! Which one is appropriate for my 20 month old and how do I know when it it time to move up? And what do I move up to?
So far Savannah has used a wide range of cups at every stage and I cannot tell that one is more appropriate than another. Does it really matter?

Annabelle never realy cared much for the bottle after I quit nursing (8 months), so I started trying to switch to a cup around then. I think I bought every brand and style there is! But, she finally stuck with the kind with a straw. She still uses those and loves them. I'm not sure if there's any real "right" cup for each age, but most of them come with age ranges on the package. Good Luck!

In addition to those really cheap, basically disposable ones , we still have a couple of Landen's vintage playtex sippy cups with the plastic insert (that gets really moldy if ever left hidden under the couch or toy bin). The new century has brought about a new rule where "big kids eat and drink at the table", but with the help of an electric dishwasher, the ol' faithfuls are still sippin' strong! After while we started using them without the "thingie" in them. But when we hit the road with a beverage, everyone yells: "Make sure it has a 'thingie' in it!"

I agree with Cari on this. We use the playtex with the "thingie" in it. You can place it in one way for a slow flow and the other way for a faster one. Chase is 3 and if we are taking a car ride, I still use a sippy. I think at home we used a small cup as soon as he mastered the skill. Good Luck!
